More than 750 people gathered at the Orpheum Theatre in Phoenix on Nov. 12 for the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix’s MEGA Event featuring a Q&A session with actor, director, screenwriter and producer Zach Braff.

The event was co-chaired by Bob and Sara Silver and Michelle Mandell, who led the Q&A session with Braff. Maytal Michaeli and Etzion Mayer, from Israel’s “The Voice,” sang songs in Hebrew and English.

To raise funds for its three core areas – NowGen, Seniors and Israel Advocacy – the federation introduced a text initiative, raising more than $10,000 that night by having guests use their cellphones to text donations during the program.

“It was great seeing all those people at the Orpheum,” said Bob Silver. “It was our opportunity to thank them for their incredible support, which allows federation to do the important work we do in the Greater Phoenix Jewish community and in Jewish communities around the world.” The 2015 campaign, which ends on Dec. 31, is currently at $3 million, according to Chief Development Officer Marty Haberer.
