Tina and Irwin Sheinbein

The Mountain Region of BBYO will honor Tina and Irwin Sheinbein at a brunch 10-11:30 a.m. Sunday, March 23, at the Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center, 12701 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale.

The free brunch is for alumni, parent and community members to see the impact BBYO is having in the Valley’s Jewish community. “As it has done for generations, BBYO helps Jewish teens achieve their leadership potential and strengthen their Jewish identities,” according to a release.

Tina Sheinbein served four years as Mountain Region director, and she and Irwin have been involved for decades in both professional and volunteer capacities. Tina is an alumna of Haifa BBG and a former regional N’siah (president). Irwin is an alumnus of Jack J. Kempner AZA and a former member of the Mountain Region’s board.

“My involvement in Jewish communal activities can be traced to the impact BBYO had on me,” Irwin Sheinbein said in the release. “BBYO taught me that community involvement is not a choice but a responsibility we all have to our local Jewish community and Klal Yisrael.”

Teen leaders from the region, both past and present, will present the Sheinbeins with their award.

The brunch will also include a teen award presentation, a presentation capturing BBYO Phoenix’s accomplishments and the opportunity to hear from a teen leader. According to the organization, there are nearly 500 Jewish teens involved in BBYO in the Phoenix area.
