It would have been surprising just a decade ago to hear of a retirement community with a chief information officer promoting Wi-Fi to its residents, but with seniors increasingly adopting modern technology, the time apparently has come.

At least it has at Friendship Village in Tempe, which recently hired Travis Saunders as its chief information officer in hopes of bringing the benefits of technology to senior living. “Technology is not good or bad,” says Saunders. “It’s just what you can do with it, and can you make it easy to use?”
