Parshat Lech-Lecha, Genesis 12:1–17:27

Parshat Lech-Lecha introduces us to the first of our Patriarchs. In his inaugural prophecy, God promises Abraham (then called Abram) that he would make of him a great nation and that he will be blessed. But there is also a rather unique promise. The Almighty declares, “I will bless those who bless you and curse him that curses you; And all the families of the earth shall bless themselves by you” (Gen. 12:3).
