You might not expect Scottsdale to be the city where the new Phoenix police chief would hold his first meeting with an advisory board to his department, but when it's the Jewish Advisory Board - consisting of Valley rabbis from across the denominational spectrum as well as representatives of the Anti-Defamation League and the Jewish Community Association of Greater Phoenix - meeting in a JCA conference room at the Ina Levine Jewish Community Campus makes sense.

The Oct. 18 meeting made it clear that there are few turf issues among the Valley's police departments when it comes to protecting the civil rights, property and individuals of the various ethnic, religious and other minorities in the fabric of the Greater Phoenix community.
