Strength, not ignorance

“College students tend to be open-hearted and naively helpful to causes that they think merit their attention.” This is what Richard L. Cravatts, who sits on the board of directors of Scholars for Peace in the Middle East told Jewish News in 2013, before giving a Passages lecture on how academia and campus environments have become hostile to Israel and, thus, to Jews.

Flash-forward to this past May when Fox News posted a video from Ami Horowitz, who pulled a “Candid Camera” style political stunt, asking students at Portland State University if they’ll pledge money to fund Hamas. Students, who usually don’t have money, are ready to drop 20 bucks to support the cause. We don’t know if Horowitz’s footage was cherry-picked, but that’s mostly irrelevant. As BDS (boycott, divestment and sanctions) measures against Israel proliferate at colleges nationwide, a stream of verified reporting confirms outrageous anti-Semitic attitudes.
