Prominent journalist Lucy Aharish was invited by the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix in partnership with the Israeli American Council to share her unique story growing up in the embattled Middle East as an Arab, Muslim and Israeli woman. She spoke in front of about 100 attendees on Sept. 20 at the Ina Levine Jewish Community Campus.

Aharish studied journalism at the Koteret School in Tel Aviv and went on to work at i24News and Israel’s Channel 2 News. In attaining these positions she became the first Arab woman to present news on a mainstream Israeli channel. Her reputation as a detailed and steadfast journalist not afraid to question the hot topics have earned her many accolades such as the OMETZ award and other achievements.
