Wayne Frederick Stutzer

Wayne Frederick Stutzer, 68, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on Oct. 19, 2018. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he is survived by his mother Joyce (Savitt) Stutzer, brother Michael (Gina) Stutzer and Marcy Sangor Strauss. He is preceded in death by his father, Gerald Stutzer, and ex-wife, Dorothy Russell. He will be remembered as Pappy to Marcy’s children, Alexander (Michele) Strauss and David (Hanna) Strauss, and grandchildren Matthew Strauss, Bradley Strauss and Katrina Strauss. He is also survived by loving cousins, nephews and devoted friends.

Wayne grew up in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree and has a master’s degree in educational psychology from the University of Minnesota. He worked as a financial adviser for more than 35 years educating investors and helping them achieve their financial goals. He retired from RBC Wealth Management Dec. 31, 2017. He hosted a radio talk show called “The Smart Investor” every Sunday on news radio station 92.3 FM KTAR, where he discussed important current events impacting the market and answered listener questions. He was also on Fox News 10 at 5:20 a.m. weekdays interpreting the market for more than 10 years.

For more than 25 years, Wayne taught courses entitled “You and Your Money” for Phoenix College and Rio Salado through their lifelong learning programs. He taught at the Real Estate School in Scottsdale and enjoyed his many other speaking opportunities throughout the Valley and state. In 2012, he was awarded the Golden Bear Partnership Award by Phoenix College for offering the News and Money Series course at Phoenix College for more than nine years at that time, and Wayne’s class had the highest enrollment of any non-credit course, with well over 50 students each semester.

He served on the board of Gesher Disability Resources (previously known as Council for Jews with Special Needs) for many years and was honored Nov. 4, 2017, at which time the establishment of the Wayne Stutzer Teacher Training Program was announced.

Services were held on Sunday, Oct. 21, at Temple Chai, Phoenix.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wayne Stutzer Teacher Training Program of Gesher Disability Resources, 12701 N. Scottsdale Road, Suite 205, Scottsdale, AZ, 85254, will be appreciated.
