Ruth Becker, born February 25, 1921, passed away on September 23, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband Louis; and her son Stephen (Jacquie); survived by her sons Mathis (Barbara) and Barry (Melanie); her grand- children Daniel (Julie), Sarah, Stephanie, Andrea, Michael (Lindsey) and Jason; and her great-grandchild Skylar .

Ruth came to Arizona in 1943 to marry Lou, a veterinarian, whom she met in Florida. Lou and Ruth ran Phoenix Dog & Cat Hospital for many years. In addition to actively participating in the veterinary hospital  and raising three rambunctious boys, she found time to be president of the PTA, cub scout den mother for each boy, and took numerous leadership roles in the local Jewish community. These roles included leadership in NA’AMAT, Hadassah, president of Beth El Congregation Sisterhood, and ran the Beth El gift shop. At the time of her death she was the person with the longest continuous membership in Beth El Congregation, from 1944 to 2016.
