L. Robert Oberfield
L. Robert Oberfield (“Bob”), born on Jan. 16, 1938, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Philip and Mary Oberfield, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Aug. 18, 2018, in Scottsdale. Bob was 80 years of age. Bob’s pre-college years in Pittsburgh were spent working as an apprentice in a local, independent pharmacy, which instilled in him a strong work ethic. Subsequently, Bob went on to the University of Pittsburgh where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy in May 1961.
During the next 27 years in Pittsburgh, Bob held various senior management positions including executive VP of operations for Thrift Drug. He then transferred his years of experience to pursue another venture in Arizona. After several successful business years, he transitioned to a career in long-term care with his son, Wayne. This collective experience led him to his active role as president of Mended Hearts Chapter 126 and Rocky Mountain regional director.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley, and his two sons, Wayne and Eric. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Mary, and his sister Irene Dinovitz.
Services were held in Phoenix on Aug. 22, 2018.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of Bob’s caregivers at Banner University Medical Center, Santé of North Scottsdale and Hospice of the Valley Eckstein Center.
