Vicki Brener Frindell
Vicki Brener Frindell of Scottsdale passed away on July 15 at age 45. Beloved wife of Scott Frindell for 17 years; devoted mother of Talia, Craig and Gavin; daughter of Shirley and Brian Brener; sister of Hayley Brener Kupperman (Adam) and Julie Brener Davich (Eric) of New York; granddaughter of Lily Brener of Johannesburg, South Africa; and daughter-in-law of Anita and Sander Frindell of Sun Lakes, AZ.
Vicki spent her life in Scottsdale after emigrating from Johannesburg at age 13. Her caring nature and desire to help people led her to pursue a career in nursing. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Arizona, then attended the University of Pennsylvania to become a nurse practitioner in women’s health care and practiced for over a decade at Caring for Women in Phoenix.
Known as a welcoming, thoughtful and compassionate friend, Vicki touched the lives of so many. She is remembered by the extended community that she built from her affiliations with many Jewish organizations in the Valley and also Camp Ramah in Ojai, CA, her favorite place on earth where she spent many summers as a camp nurse.
Vicki’s funeral service on July 17 at Mt. Sinai Cemetery was led by Rabbi Micah Caplan of Congregation Or Tzion, where her family are members; Rabbi Michael Wasserman of The New Shul, where her parents are members; and Rabbi Joe Menashe of Camp Ramah. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.
Camp Ramah California is collecting donations for a naming in Vicki’s honor in the infirmary. To contribute, please visit Ramah.org, select the “Camp’s Greatest Needs” fund, and write “In Memory of Vicki Frindell” in the tribute message.
