Ellie Rose Goddes

Ellie Rose Goddes, daughter of Roxanne and Brad Goddes of Scottsdale, will become a bat mitzvah on April 14 at Congregation Beth Israel.

Grandparents are Sharon Root of Waseca, Minnesota; Melvin Prange of Owatonna, Minnesota; Evelyn Ettelson of Scottsdale; and David Goddes of Scottsdale.

Ellie attends Cocopah Middle School. For her mitzvah project, Ellie volunteered at St. Mary’s Food Bank preparing meals for those in need, assisted the St. Vincent De Paul Dream Center, and delivered meals on Thanksgiving morning to CBI congregants.

Her hobbies include choir, student council, soccer, volleyball, track and field, travel, hiking, a love for animals and photography.

Lani Elaine MacMillan

Lani Elaine MacMillan, daughter of Shawn and Scott MacMillan of Cave Creek, will become a bat mitzvah on April 14 at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are Alta Lee MacMillan of Summer Lake, Oregon; the late Richard MacMillan; and the late Elana Steinberg.

Lani attends Sonoran Trails Middle School. For her mitzvah project, Lani has volunteered at Miracle League of Arizona for the past three years. Miracle League is a nonprofit organization that provides a safe baseball experience for people with special needs. Lani helps the younger kids play baseball.

Lani is on a competitive soccer team, and on her school’s cross country and track teams. She loves being outside. She enjoys anything involving running or hiking.
