Ethan Samuel Silvyn
Ethan Samuel Silvyn, son of Jeff Silvyn and Keri Lazarus Silvyn of Tucson, will become a bar mitzvah on March 3 at Or Chadash.
Grandparents are Marlys and Larry Lazarus of Paradise Valley, and Benita Silvyn and Charles Whitefill of Tucson.
Great-grandparents are Marge and Maurice Lazarus of Scottsdale.
For his mitzvah project, Ethan is raising funds for Tu Nidito. Ethan rode 40 miles in the El Tour de Tucson last fall in its Ride for a Child event and raised $700 on his own for the organization.
He attends Esperero Canyon Middle School. Ethan enjoys basketball, video games and hanging out with his friends.
Elijah Hirsch Gruber
Elijah Hirsch Gruber, son of Shlomit and Robert Gruber of Phoenix, will become a bar mitzvah on March 10 at Temple Solel.
His grandparents are Tina and David Robbins of Phoenix. His great-grandfather is Harry (Hirsch) Robbins of Long Beach, California, and the late Sylvia
Robbins. His great-grandmother is Beverly Sirotkin of Delray Beach, Florida, and the late Joseph Sirotkin, and the late Peggy and Sylvan Heineman.
For his mitzvah project, Elijah made care packages of food and toiletries, which he distributed to homeless Arizonans. He also repaired three bicycles and donated them to children in need, as well as dropped off pet supplies to the Arizona Humane Society.
Elijah attends Cocopah Middle School and in his spare time he enjoys mountain bike riding, playing baritone saxophone in his school band, sports, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
