Benjamin Cooper Rush

Benjamin Cooper Rush, the son of Rhonda and Jason Rush of Phoenix, became a bar mitzvah on Nov. 17, 2018, at Congregation Beth Israel.

Grandparents are Nancy and the late Paul Stein of Scottsdale, and Judy and Alan Rush of Scottsdale.

For his mitzvah project, Benjamin volunteered at three local organizations: St. Vincent de Paul’s Dream Center, where he helped kids with their homework; ICM Food and Clothing Bank, where he helped bag groceries for the homeless; and The Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center (SAARC), where he helped promote and recruit people for their annual charity walk.

A student at Ingleside Middle School, Benjamin enjoys traveling, reading, boxing and seeing movies.

 

Elle Peri Discont

Elle Peri Discont, the daughter of Denorah and Alan Discont of Scottsdale, will become a bat mitzvah on Dec. 8, 2018, at Congregation Beth Israel.

Grandparents are the late Dr. Herbert and Elaine Discont of Cleveland.

For her mitzvah project, Elle worked with distressed horses and disabled children to build new relationships.

A student at Rancho Solano Preparatory School, Elle enjoys volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, violin, piano, horsemanship and acting/drama.
