Making a house a Jewish home

It is a neat stucco house with a red tile roof and neatly tended lawn on a quiet cul-de-sac in north Phoenix.

On the door post there is a mezuzah, a sign that this is a Jewish home, but it is inside, once over the threshold, that the Jewish tam is as palpable, and delectable, as the aroma of roast chicken wafting from the oven.
