Oksner will coordinate all aspects of design and construction of PCH's new, freestanding children's hospital. Oksner most recently was senior project manager for Mayo Clinic Scottsdale. Jonah Shacknai, president and CEO of Medicis Pharmaceutical Corp., has been appointed to serve on the Listed Company Advisory Committee to the New York Stock Exchange board of directors. Shacknai, of Paradise Valley, will serve on the 20-member committee, established in 1976 to allow listed companies to advise the NYSE board in policy matters, for three years. Thomas Baker has joined Training la Carte as a curriculum consultant; Steffani S. Moore and Nancy A. Nester have been hired as training specialists; Susan B. Binsfeld has been hired as an instructor; and Darlene Kleiman has joined the firm to work in its Human Resources and Accounting Departments. Baker, whose background is in computer and software sales, will focus his efforts on sales. Moore, a former senior training specialist and consultant with Executrain, is a graduate of Northwestern University, Illinois Wesleyan University and L'Universit‚ de Sorbonne in Paris. Nester, a graduate of Dickinson College, was involved in training and curriculum development at Executrain. Binsfeld has worked in training for Executrain and Data Solutions. Training la Carte is a personal-computer training services company and is located at Park Central Mall in Phoenix. Kleiman, an Arizona native, has worked in human resources and accounting administration for Avnet, Allied Signal and Consolidated Freightways. Rochelle Balch of RB Balch Computer Consultants in Glendale has been elected to the Deer Valley Education Foundation, a non-profit organization that raises money for teacher grants and student scholarships in the Deer Valley School District. Joel Arthur, a pediatric dentist for more than 25 years, is opening a second office, 8535 E. Hartford Drive, Suite 208, in North Scottsdale this month. Arthur provides preventive and restorative procedures and uses nitrous oxide, oral sedation and hospital dentistry when needed for his patients. Sandra A. Abalos, president of Abalos & Associates, is featured in the recently published book, "Wise Women: Success Strategies for Women Entrepreneurs," which shares the success stories, best practices and business tips of women entrepreneurs. Abalos, the 1996 Small Business Administration National Accountant Advocate of the Year, also has been named to the IRS Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee. Abalos is considered a national expert on taxation and independent-contractor status. Andrew Bockstein has been promoted to product manager for Pilgrim Funds. Bockstein joined the Phoenix-based investment company in May. He moved to Arizona in 1989 from Amonk, N.Y. Hyatt Regency Phoenix has hired William Stevenson, formerly a sales manager for Destination Hotel and Resorts, as a sales manager for the national corporate market and Jan Parrish as a sales manager for the primary market. Stevenson, who grew up in California and Phoenix, is a member of the Navy League and the United States Naval Institute and is a Fiesta Bowl Committee member. Parrish most recently worked at the Hilton Mesa Pavilion, where she was associate director of sales. Michael R. Mulhern has joined Dominion Pacific Inc., the construction division of the Omni Group of Companies, as vice president of construction. Mulhern has been involved in Arizona's construction industry since his 1972 graduation from the University of Colorado. Brown & Bain has admitted Dan L. Bagatell, J. Alex Grimsley, Richard M. Lorenzen and Steven R. Rogers, all of the firm's Phoenix office, to the membership. Bagatell, a 1991 graduate of Stanford Law School, practices litigation with an emphasis on appellate matters. Grimsley, a 1991 Tulane Law School graduate, practices litigation with an emphasis on antitrust and class-action defense. Lorenzen graduated from Arizona State University School of Law in 1980 and practices in the areas of bankruptcy and creditors rights. Rodgers practices general litigation with an emphasis on intellectual property and commercial law for high-technology companies. He graduated from the University of Utah's law school in 1992. Hercules A. Dellas, a private-practice attorney, has been hired as executive assistant and adviser to Arizona Corporation Commissioner William A. Mundell, replacing Teena Wolfe, who has taken the staff attorney position with the ACC's Legal Division that became vacant when Peter Breen became director of regulatory law for New Mexico's Attorney General's Office. Dellas's annual salary in his new position will be $73,882. Eddie A. Pantiliat has been named a shareholder and partner in the law firm Peskind Hymson & Goldstein in North Scottsdale. Pantiliat joined the firm in 1993 as an associate. His practice emphasizes wrongful death, personal injury, medical malpractice and product liability claims. He is a 1993 graduate of Whittier Law School. |
