Beth Israel to honor executive director

Temple Beth Israel in Scottsdale will honor Terry Taubman, its executive director, for her decade of service to the congregation, with a special Shabbat service at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19, at the temple, 10460 N. 56th St.

"As an executive director, I'm pleased to have 10 years of professional service so graciously recognized," Taubman said about the tribute. "As a person, I'm extremely touched. It's one of those things that's special to celebrate with your family, friends and those people you work closely with."

Taubman, who has held her post for more than 10 years, recently was appointed to the board of the National Association of Temple Administrators (NATA) and will attend the organization's annual meeting next month in Orlando, Fla.

Taubman is married and has four children Adam, 26; Molly , 22; Sadie; 18; and Jacob Reuben, 16 and two step-children Lance, 28, and Brent, 22. She and husband Lon have been married for nearly 11 years.

Taubman, who moved to the Valley in 1971, grew up in a traditional Reform family in Pennsylvania and earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education from Ohio State University. She also holds a master's degree in management from the University of Phoenix and is a NATA board-certified fellow in temple administration.

Ballet Sanctus will perform during the service, which will be followed by a special oneg (social gathering).
