JNF award honors Cabots

The Jewish National Fund will present its Tree of Life Award to Howard and Vicki Cabot during the organization's Tree of Life Dinner on Nov. 14 at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix.

The award recognizes individuals for their dedication to improving the quality of life and community contributions.

The Cabots, married for 30 years and Phoenix residents since 1981, are being honored for their "commitment to the Jewish community locally, in Israel and worldwide, along with a dedication to vital civic concerns," according to a news release.

The Cabots have visited Israel frequently and participated in a JNF-sponsored mission in 1995 that highlighted the organization's water and land reclamation work.

Howard Cabot, a partner in the Brown & Bain law firm, was the founding chair of the Commission on Jewish Continuity and Community for the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix and is a federation officer, chairing the Multiple Appeals Committee. He is a member of the executive committee of the Herberger Theater Center and serves on the board of the Phoenix Library Foundation.

Vicki Cabot, a contributing editor for Jewish News of Greater Phoenix, is president of the federation's Women's Department and serves on the national boards of the Jewish Publication Society and the United Jewish Communities Women's Constituency. She has served on the boards of community agencies and organizations, including Hillel Jewish Student Center at Arizona State University and Ballet Arizona.
