Temple to host Miss Arizona trunk show

Temple Beth Israel of Scottsdale will be the site of the Miss Arizona Trunk Show featuring Miss Arizona 1999 Lori Whiting of Mesa.

Whiting and the contest runners-up will entertain during the event, set for 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21. Whiting also will model the wardrobe she will wear when she competes in the Miss America pageant next month in Atlantic City, N.J.

The evening includes a silent auction for items such as restaurant gift certificates, autographed pictures of Arizona sports stars, golf outings and tickets to Diamondbacks, Suns, Cardinals and Coyotes games. Raffle tickets also will be sold.

Proceeds will benefit the Adopt-a-Caseworker Program, sponsored by Beth Israel's Social Action Committee. Funds will be used to purchase items and services for Arizona's Young Adult Program, a program of the Department of Economic Security to help 16- to 18-year-olds make the transition from foster care to living independently.

Tickets to the event are $5 at the door.

Temple Beth Israel is at 10460 N. 56th St. in Scottsdale. Call 480-951-0323.
