Offer to help gets unhelpful response

Editor:
I am retired and want to do some volunteer work. I sent an e-mail to a local human-relations organization and promptly received information I had requested about their work.

I wrote again to say that the organization's ideals were up my alley and that I wanted to get involved. The response I got from the executive director was essentially, "We don't need anyone to stuff or lick envelopes. We only want people who have influence with big business or government."

Wow, did this blow me away. What a way to handle people. I just wanted to do the right thing, but I sure was put in my place.

Kudos for News

Editor:
The Jewish News of Greater Phoenix frequently has excellent coverage of local events. The news regarding local people is especially well done.

Yashar koach. More power to you.
