New York acting coach to teach Phoenix workshop

The Arizona Speakers Association is hosting a workshop, "Captivate Your Audience," with one of New York's most highly respected acting coaches, Carol Fox Prescott, on how to be powerfully present when speaking in front of a group.

Prescott has worked as an actress, director and teacher for close to 40 years. She has played leading roles in New York and throughout the country, including Tzeitel in "A Fiddler On The Roof" with Zero Mostel, Agnes in "George M!" with Mickey Rooney, Catherine in "Pippin," directed by Bob Fosse, and Guitele in "The Rothschilds" opposite Hal Linden. She also has directed award-winning productions of David Mamet's "A Life In The Theater," Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" and Ibsen's "A Doll's House."

The workshop will be from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, and 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 2. Sunday afternoon, Prescott will work with participants one-on-one.

Cost for the workshop is $100, or $60 if you can only attend either the Saturday or Sunday session. Attendance is limited. The workshop plus Sunday afternoon personal coaching package is $135 and is limited to the first eight requests.

The event will be held at the National Speakers Association headquarters, 1500 S. Priest Drive, Tempe. For more information, call Marcia Reynolds at (602) 954-9030 or Alice at (602) 968-7443.
