Exhibitors sought for EarthFest '99

Valley Forward Association, a 30-year-old organization comprised of business and civic leaders dedicated to improving the environment and quality of life in Valley communities, is seeking exhibitors interested in promoting environmental messages through interactive, educational booths and activities at the 10th annual EarthFest, the state's official Earth Day celebration.

Businesses, civic organizations and other groups can show their commitment to the environment through exhibits featuring hands-on activities and centered around this year's theme, "Preserving Our Desert."

Exhibit areas encompass air quality, transportation, water issues, agriculture and recycling. Educational science and wildlife demonstrations, food and entertainment also will be featured.

Last year, the EarthFest environmental expo included more than 50 exhibits and activities. More than 5,000 students on school field trips attended the expo, which also attracted business and community leaders as well as residents.

In addition to the environmental expo, EarthFest '99 includes a Valleywide Green Up, beautification projects conducted by volunteers on Saturdays during April; an Eco Contest for kindergarten through 12th grade students to submit environmental-themed art, writing and multimedia projects; and a High School Outreach Program at which area students will lead environmental workshops for 500 fellow students.

Valley Forward's EarthFest '99 environmental expo will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, at the Phoenix Civic Plaza-Symphony Hall Terrace. Admission is free.

To obtain an exhibit registration form, call Valley Forward at 240-2408.
