Policy Center to host issues forum

The Jewish Policy Center will host a forum on the impact of important public policy issues and the Jewish community at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel, 24th Street and Missouri Avenue in the Canyon Room.

The forum will feature author and radio host Michael Medved; author David Horowitz; Harvard University professor Ruth Wisse; Rabbi Daniel Lapin, president of Toward Tradition; and syndicated columnist Don Feder.

Medved is the author of several books, including the best seller "Hollywood vs. America." He has his own syndicated radio talk show and formerly hosted the PBS series "Sneak Previews." He is also contributing op-ed writer for the USA Today newspaper and lives in Seattle, Wash.

Horowitz wrote the 1997 "Radical Son," a best seller describing his political odyssey from communism, to fund-raising for the Black Panthers, to conservatism. He published the journal Heterodoxy and currently heads the Center for the Study of Popular Culture in Los Angeles.

Wisse is the Peretz Professor of Yiddish and Comparative literature at Harvard University. She writes frequently for The New Republic and The Wall Street Journal. She is the author of "If I Am Not For Myself ... The Liberal Betrayal of the Jews."

Lapin heads Toward Tradition, a politically conservative educational organization based in Seattle, dedicated to finding common ground between Judaism and Christianity in solving public policy problems of concern to both communities.

Feder is a columnist for the Boston Herald whose work is nationally syndicated. He has published two books and writes and lectures on a broad range of topics, from Israel's security to domestic problems in America.

A question-and-answer period and a dessert reception will follow the panel discussion. The event is free. RSVP to 735-3000.
