Arizona wants more greenhousesThrough advanced technology and research, as well as a progressive business climate, Arizona is rapidly becoming a greenhouse hotspot. An Arizona delegation of representatives from the Department of Agriculture, University of Arizona, Willcox Chamber of Commerce and Citizens' Arizona Gas attended the 1998 International Horticulture Trade Fair in Amsterdam on a trade mission to persuade more greenhouse operators to locate in Arizona. "Few regions are better designed by nature to grow greenhouse crops," said Merle Jensen, a representative from the University of Arizona. "Arizona's year-round light, high elevations, ideal temperatures and clean mountain water make our state the obvious choice for greenhouse operations."
