A&E commentator to lecture at Beth Israel

Walter Zanger, commentator on A&E Network's "Mysteries of the Bible" series, will be Temple Beth Israel's scholar-in-residence on Thursday, Nov. 12, and Friday, Nov. 13.

Zanger is an accomplished Israeli writer, lecturer, columnist, film writer, television personality and tour guide. He was the host of the TV magazine "Hello, Jerusalem," and served for six years as an assistant publisher and contributor to the Encyclopedia Judaica. He also contributes to the Jerusalem Post.

Zanger, ordained a rabbi by the Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion, emigrated to Israel with his family in 1966.

He will present two lectures at Temple Beth Israel, 10460 N. 56th St., Scottsdale. The first will be during the "Lunch with the Rabbi" series at noon on Thursday, Nov. 12, in the ballroom. There is no charge, and attendees are invited to bring a sack lunch. The second will be during Shabbat services at 8 p.m. on Nov. 13 in the Grace and Horace Goldsmith Sanctuary.
