B'nai B'rith will honor Valley business leaders

The Grand Canyon Lodge of B'nai B'rith is planning a distinguished-service awards dinner to honor Valley business leaders Herman and Steven Chanen. The event is set for Wednesday, Nov. 18, at The Phoenician in Phoenix.

Herman Chanen is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Chanen Construction Company Inc., which he founded more than 40 years ago. The Valley-based firm has since grown to become one of the nation's leading construction companies.

Chanen has served on more than 50 public and private boards and commissions and has been honored with more than 50 community-service awards. His son Steven, president and chief operating officer of the company, has been a member of the boards of directors of more than 30 community and philanthropic organizations.

Comedian David Brenner is scheduled to perform at the event. For more information or to purchase tickets, call David Schacter at 860-6589.

B'nai B'rith is an international non-profit organization that provides a variety of local and national programs and services for the Jewish community. This is the second year the fund-raising event has been held. Last year's event honored Suns owner Jerry Colangelo.
