Beth Israel dedicates religious school and celebrates Selichot

Temple Beth Israel, 10460 N. 56th St. in Scottsdale, will have a dessert reception at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, in the Friedman Ballroom, followed by the dedication of its new Mark L. Haberkorn Religious School building at 8:15 p.m.

The dedication will include a ribbon cutting and tours of the new facility until 9:30 p.m., when congregants and friends will join in a Selichot service in the Goldsmith Sanctuary. Rabbis Kenneth Segel and Barry Cohen, along with Cantor Howard Tabaknek, will lead the service. The community is welcome to attend.

There will be a second religious school building dedication the next day at 9:30 a.m. in the Goldsmith Sanctuary that will include parents and children of the school. A mezuzah will be hung on the religious school building, which includes an art room, the Taxman Conference Room and an audio/visual facility, as well as several classrooms.

After the second dedication, fall religious school classes will begin.
