Local summit to focus on multicultural tourism

The Greater Phoenix Convention & Visitors Bureau will stage Arizona's first multicultural tourism summit Sept. 24-26 at the Pointe Hilton Resort at Squaw Peak, 7677 N. 16th St., Phoenix.

The summit will provide attendees with opportunities to network and do business with nearly 200 participants, including ethnic business leaders, representatives of Arizona's hospitality industry, and leaders in the ethnic travel market.

Focusing on the African American, Asian American, Hispanic and Native American Markets, experts will use case studies, panel discussions and seminars to share information on the economic impact of ethnic tourism and marketing.

Information will be provided on linking diversity to bottom-line results, and tips will be offered on recruiting and retaining ethnic employees. Organizers say the summit will also show participants how to attract and meet the needs of ethnic customers.

For more information, call the convention bureau at 252-5588, ext. 4; or visit its Web site at www.arizonaguide.com/phoenix.
