If it's Tuesday, things are getting doneIf you're experiencing a sense of accomplishment at work, there's a good chance that this feeling is coming over you on a Tuesday. According to a recent survey commissioned by the office staffing service Accountemps, that's the day identified by business executives as the best for employee productivity. The survey was conducted by an independent research firm, which polled 150 executives from the nation's 1,000 largest companies. More than half (51 percent) named Tuesday as the most productive day of the work week, closely reflecting the results of a similar survey done in 1987. Friday remains the most unproductive day, according to the survey, with only 1 percent of respondents picking it as the top day for getting things done. Tuesday's popularity was far ahead of Monday (17 percent), Wednesday (15 percent) and Thursday (5 percent). Eleven percent said they didn't know or had no answer. "Monday may seem like the busiest day of the week for employees swinging back into the routine after a weekend off, but Tuesday appears to be when everyone puts their 'nose to the grindstone' and accomplishes more work," said Mary Gomez, Mesa branch manager of the California-based Accountemps. The business, with 200 offices in the United States, Canada and Europe, specializes in staffing for accounting, finance and bookkeeping professionals. |
