Tenors to perform live from Paris

A concert featuring The Three Tenors (Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti), conducted by James Levine, will be broadcast live from Paris, France, at noon on Friday, July 10, with a rebroadcast at 7 p.m., both airing locally on KAET-TV Channel 8.

The Three Tenors will perform for the people of Paris and the world at the historic Champ-de-Mars in front of the Eiffel Tower. Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to attend the event, which will lead the celebrations preceding the final match of the 1998 Soccer World Cup. The concert will be telecast to more than 100 countries across the world. Networks airing the concert will include France's Canal Plus and the Public Broadcasting System in the United States.

The trio will perform a new repertoire of operatic arias and world-renowned popular songs in five languages - French, English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. They will be accompanied by the L'Orchestre de Paris.
