Shavuot services spur clash

Israeli police scuffled with fervently Orthodox Jews who protested mixed-gender services near the Western Wall over Shavuot. The police decision to allow the worshipers to continue this year stood in contrast to their actions during the holiday last year, when police ordered the group to leave the site. Conservative Jewish leaders declared victory after a group of 250 worshipers completed prayers despite the opposition.
