Israeli husband and wife perform on violin, piano

The Sun Cities Music Society will present violinist Vadim Gluzman, accompanied by pianist Angela Yoffe, in a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1, at the Sundial Auditorium, 103rd Avenue at Boswell Boulevard in Sun City.

The Ukranian-born Gluzman immigrated to Israel in 1990 where, in 1991 at the age of 16, he played for Isaac Stern. The famous Stern was so impressed he recommended that the America-Israel Cultural Foundation loan Gluzman a 1711 Pietro Guarneri violin. In 1994, Gluzman received the prestigious Henryk Szeryng Foundation Career Award and a scholarship for study at Julliard. He currently lives in New York City.

Gluzman's accompanist, Angela Yoffe, is also his wife. An Israeli immigrant from Latvia, Yoffe also is an international prize-winner and performer.

At the Sun City concert, the pair will perform Mozart's "Sonata for Piano & Violin in e-minor, KV300 (304)," Prokofiev's "Sonata No. 2 in D-Major for Violin and Piano," Brahms' "Scherzo in c-minor for Violin & Piano," Dvorak's "4 Romantic Pieces," and Ravel's "Tzigane for Violin & Piano."

Reserved seats are $14; student tickets at $5. Call 972-0478 weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
