Competition focuses on art depicting love of nature

The ORT Resource Center invites Jewish students ages 5-18 to participate in a national multimedia art competition. The theme is "Jewish compassion for living things."

The contest focuses on human interaction with animals, plants and the natural world. Entries should illustrate the theme and should have a Jewish spin, such as topics that include biblical stories, Jewish holidays, the agricultural calendar and mitzvot (commandments).

The competition will accept entries in two categories: traditional media and multimedia. Traditional media includes paintings, drawings or a collage, which must be no larger than letter paper size. Multimedia entries are videos or CD-ROM presentations.

All entries must be labeled with a name, address, telephone number, age and grade. If entering through a school, include the school name and address, phone number, teacher's name and grade.

Entries must be received between Jan. 22 and April 14, 2000.

Mail entries to Nurit Sharon, ORT Resource Center, 69-30 Austin St., Forest Hills, NY 11375.

For more information, call 718-268-7110; or e-mail to snurit@ortopsusa.org.
