Barbara Jeanne Smith

Barbara Jeanne Smith of Desert Hills died May 25, 2005. She was 70. She was born in Oswego, N.Y., and moved to Arizona in 1975. She was a retired phlebotomist.

Survivors include her husband, Robert; sons, Andrew Tobin of Phoenix and Michael Tobin of Phoenix; sisters, Arlene Schoenfeld of Phoenix and Anne Weinberger of Plano, Texas; brothers, Barry Karch of Coral Gables, Fla., and Allen Karch of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services were held at Beth El Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary.

Helene G. Harris

Helene G. Harris of Phoenix died May 27, 2005. She was 75. She was born in New York City and moved to Arizona from Maryland in 1974. She was a retired insurance underwriter. She was a member of Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest; daughter, K.L. of Peoria; son, Gregory of Phoenix; and brother, Arthur Glicksman of Searingtown, Long Island, N.Y.

Services were held at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary.

Lila D. Rose

Lila D. Rose of Surprise died May 29, 2005. She was 74. She was born in Chicago and moved to Arizona in 1978. She was a retired bookkeeper.

Survivors include her husband, Benjamin; daughters, Sharon Cohen of Barrington, Ill., and Janette Fogel of Scottsdale; son, Larry of New Zealand; sister, Judith Noren of Lincolnshire, Ill.; and five grandchildren.

Services were held at Beth El Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary.

Doris Ruth Stein

Doris Ruth Stein of Phoenix died May 28, 2005. She was 83. She was born in Tulsa, Okla., and moved to Arizona from Chicago in 1978. She was a retired real estate agent. She was the president of the residence council at Kivel Campus of Care.

Survivors include her daughter, Claire Ruder of Israel; sons, Steven of Chandler and Thomas of Santa Ana, Calif.; brother, Robert Schwartz of Asheville, N.C.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Beth Israel Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary.

Mildred Simon

Mildred Simon of Phoenix died May 27, 2005. She was 86. She was born in Donovan, Ill., and moved to Arizona in 1980. She was a retired secretary.

Survivors include her daughters, Ellen Simon of Columbia, S.C., and Sondra Thorson of Ogden Dunes, Ind.; son, David of Phoenix; sister, Tena Mitchell of Chicago; and four grandchildren.

Services were held in Illinois. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary.



Ronald B. Gold

Ronald B. Gold, age 71, of Scottsdale, died May 30, 2005. After a long battle, an admirable fighter succumbed to the good fight. 48 years of love with his beloved wife Barbara. Father to Mindy, Mark and Dina. Father-in-law to Mike, Steve and Nicole, grandfather to Alex, Cydnie, Drew, Wesley, Mathew, Kyle, Cole and Joshua. Uncle to Cory, Brother to Peter and Brother-in-law to Shelly. A friend and mentor to too many to mention. He will be sorely missed.
