People on the moveThe Helen Foundation has opened a new 3,000-square-foot clinic in Apache Junction that will specialize in the treatment of arthritis and other autoimmune diseases. The clinic is supported by the nonprofit Helen Foundation, named in honor of Helen Stenberg. Her husband, Virgil Stenberg, Ph.D., has made a lifelong research project of studying arthritis. Zweig has been elected president of the Maricopa County Bar Association (MCBA). Zweig is a shareholder in the employment law and civil litigation practice area, where he focuses on representing employers in litigation with former employees on cases such as discrimination, harassment, wage and hour and contract matters. He is a member of the State Bar of Arizona and has been named by the Business Journal-Phoenix as "one of the Best of the Bar for employment litigation" representing employers. Fern K. Hurst, a Jewish leader and champion for pluralism, was recently named the new chairwoman of the board of directors of CLAL-The National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership. Hurst has been a board member for many years, most recently in the position of associate chairwoman/secretary. Hurst is also a member of the executive committee of AIPAC, and was the founding president of The Jewish Women's Foundation of New York. She lives in New York City and Aspen, Colo. CLAL is a leadership-training institute, think tank and resource center. Susie Gelman, chairwoman of the birthright israel foundation board of directors, has announced the appointment of Jay Golan as the new president of the foundation. Golan will work closely with Gelman and board members to build relationships with key constituents and partners to expand current development efforts, and to oversee post-programming initiatives through North America. |
