Bernice Silverman Petrovsky

Bernice Silverman Petrovsky, 70, of Prescott, Arizona, formerly of Phoenix, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 27, 2005. A devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and daughter, her unlimited love for those around her was her most enduring characteristic. She has left an enormous void in the lives of those who knew and loved her. Truly, she lived for her children and grandchildren. Bernice was born in Brooklyn, New York, later moving to Columbia, South Carolina. She was married to Seymour Petrovsky, of Memphis, Tennessee, on June 18, 1952. They moved their family to Arizona in 1962. She was instrumental behind the scenes in her husband's significant professional and social accomplishments, including terms as president of Har Zion Congregation and the Million Dollar Round Table. Active in the Arizona Jewish community, she served as president of the local chapter of Hadassah and Har Zion Congregation's Sisterhood. She was an accomplished needle pointer, voracious reader, back-gammon and Scrabble player, animal lover, Cub Scout den mother, gourmet cook, entertainer extraordinaire, and worldwide traveler. She was dearly loved by all of her family and will be sadly missed more than words can express.

Bernice is survived by her husband Seymour; daughter Sherry (Andy) Saper; sons Cliff Petrovsky, Fred (Amy) Petrovsky, and Adam (Heather) Petrovsky; sister Linda Silverman; brother Steve (Toby) Silverman; nine grandchildren: Travis, Michael and Ryan Saper; Bailee Petrovsky; Mara, Brian and Rayna Petrovsky; and Bradley and Reese Petrovsky; nephews Jordan and Zachary Silverman; and brother-in-law, Maurice Petrovsky. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Julia Silverman; parents-in-law Israel and Ruth Petrovsky; and brother-in-law Theodore Petrovsky. Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday, March 29, 2005 in Scottsdale.
