Endowment Book of Life signers invest in the future

Twenty-nine people signed the Endowment Book of Life on March 6, thereby making a commitment to establish a permanent financial gift to the Jewish community through the Jewish Community Foundation.

More than 110 people attended an event honoring the signers during a JCF signing ceremony at the Ina Levine Jewish Community Campus.

Program participation consists of signing a Declaration of Commitment, which indicates a promise to make a future gift through the Jewish Community Foundation. There is no minimum gift to sign the book. The gifts benefit Jewish organizations, agencies or programs that have been important to the signer.

Signers also wrote a statement to express their thoughts about tzedakah, family and the motivation behind making their gift.

The book is on display in the Ina Levine campus lobby, where visitors can view a computerized version.

During the March 6 ceremony, documentary producer and writer Dr. Debra Gonsher Vinik shared the history of the 350 years of Jewish settlement in North America and discussed the importance of passing down stories and legacies.

For details about the Endowment Book of Life, call Sheryl Quen, director of programs at JCF, 480-699-1717, ext. 1402.
