Obituaries

Paul Grossberg

Paul Grossberg of Phoenix died March 13, 2005. He was 73. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to Arizona from Pennsylvania in 1989. He was a retired computer engineer. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Jewish War Veterans, Post #194, and was involved with the American Lung Association.

Survivors include his wife, Rachel; daughters, Donna Heller of Paradise Valley and Susan Pendleton of Surprise; sister, Sydelle Mitchell of Tamarac, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

Services were held at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, with Rabbi Mari Chernow officiating. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary.

Contributions are suggested to American Lung Association, 102 W. McDowell Road, Phoenix 85003.



Mary Shane

Mary Shane, 92, of Phoenix, AZ died March 9, 2005. She was born in Binghamton, NY and moved to AZ in 1980. Mary is survived by her brother Milton Koffman (Shirley) of Palm Beach, FL, daughter Sue Kwasman (Bert) of Scottsdale, AZ, and son Arthur Shane (Martha) of Acton, MA. She loved and was very proud of her grandchildren Jill Goldstein (Bruce) of Scottsdale, AZ, Michael Kwasman (Judy) of Spokane, WA, Bonnie Levinger (Steve) of Omaha, NE, Marcia Unell (Joe) of Phoenix, AZ, and Jeffrey Shane of Acton, MA. She was also a beloved great-grandmother of nine. Mary will be missed by her family and all of those whose lives she has touched over the years. She will most be remembered for her kindness, sweetness and gentleness.

Graveside funeral services were held March 11th at Green Acres Cemetery in Scottsdale. Contributions may be made to the organization of the contributor's choice. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.



Mildred Shuster

Mildred Shuster, age 90, of Phoenix, passed away on March 10, 2005. She was born in Russia and came to the Valley 5 years ago from California.

Survivors include son Garry (Sharon) Shuster of Phoenix; daughters Miki (Maurice) Closs of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Lauren (Mark) Leibert of Moor Park, CA, Norma (Harvey) Flader of Phoenix, Vivienne (Russell) Ribnick of Valencia, CA, Terri (Darrel) Cohen of Hauser, ID; 16 grand-children and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her late husband Jack Meyer Shuster and her late son Barry Shuster.
