Pearl Ronay

Pearl Ronay, 88, passed away February 21, 2005 in Israel.

Burial was held Friday, February 25 at Beth El Cemetery, Phoenix.

Pearl, together with her husband Robert Ronay, served the Jewish Community for decades with the Ronay's Gold Star Bakery. Preceding the Gold Star Bakery was Phoenix's first Kosher Bakery, the Sun Valley Bakeries, founded by Pearl's father, Joseph Wilkins in the 1940's. Pearl and Bob Ronay were among the founding members of Beth El Synagogue. Pearl moved to be with her daughter's family in Israel after the death of her husband in 2002.

She is survived by sister Lillian Shanks, daughter Jo-Beth (Shmuel Ben Yehuda), and sons Daniel Ronay and Shane (Rivka) Ronay. She loved and was especially proud of her five grandchildren, Noa, Shiran, and Lior in Israel, and Yoni and Tali in Monsey, NY.

Pearl leaves a legacy of giving, both of herself by volunteering her time and of giving tzedakah at every opportunity. She passed away on a Kibbutz in Israel surrounded by the people she loved. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Robert Ronay, who passed away in 2002.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Beth El Rabbi's Discretionary Fund, c/o Beth El Congregation, 1118 W. Glendale Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85021. Additional acts of kindness will do honor to her memory.
