Chase Ellsworth Arnold, son of Cynthia M. and Thomas C. Arnold of Scottsdale, will become a bar mitzvah Feb. 5, 2005, at Temple Beth Israel.

Grandparents are Sandra F. Nissenbaum of St. Louis; David R. Geller of St. Louis; Sandra A. Finn of Payson; and Thomas C. Arnold of Chicago.

Great-grandparents are the late Sarah and Samuel Sokol; and the late Nettie and Isadore Geller.

Chase attends Mountainside Middle School. His hobbies include drums, lacrosse and paintball.



David James Banen, son of Lisa and Steve Banen of Phoenix, will become a bar mitzvah Feb. 5, 2005, at Temple Solel.

Grandparents are Norma and Allen Banen of Fountain Hills.

David attends Cocopah Middle School. His hobbies include playing saxophone and sports.

For his mitzvah project, David collected school supplies and sent them to U.S. troops to distribute to children in Afghanistan.



Danielle Sarah Markovitz, daughter of Risa and Jonathon Markovitz of Phoenix, will become a bat mitzvah Feb. 5, 2005, at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are Naomi Markovitz of Phoenix; Faye and Syd Sandys of Scottsdale; and the late Meyer Markovitz.

Danielle attends Cocopah Middle School. Her hobbies include traveling, craft projects and basketball.

For her mitzvah project, Danielle helped at Cherokee Elementary School's used book bazaar and volunteered at the Mesquite branch of the Phoenix Public Library.



Alyssa Ann Goldstein, daughter of Laurie and Chuck Goldstein of Scottsdale, became a bat mitzvah Jan. 22, 2005, at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are Lottie Goldstein of Phoenix and the late Elias Goldstein.

Alyssa attends Cocopah Middle School. Her hobbies include gymnastics and cheerleading.

For her mitzvah project, Alyssa collected books and arts and crafts supplies for the Crisis Nursery of Phoenix.



Matthew Alexander Cohn, son of Amy and Andrew Cohn of Phoenix, will become a bar mitzvah Feb. 5, 2005, at Temple Solel.

Grandparents are Sheila and Michael Cohn of Scottsdale; and Sandra and Marvin Rubin of Delray Beach, Fla.

Great-grandparent is Kate Obstgarten of Boca Raton, Fla.

Matthew attends Pardes Jewish Day School. His hobbies include golf, basketball and cars.

For his mitzvah project, Matthew assisted with Shabbat services at Kivel Campus of Care. He also helped out at Ronald McDonald House.



Kyle Rand, son of Deborah and Howard Rand of Phoenix, will become a bar mitzvah Feb. 5, 2005, at Temple Emanuel of Tempe.

Grandparents are Celia and Robert Balavram of Delray Beach, Fla.; and Sherry and Leonard Rand of Boca Raton, Fla.

Kyle attends Altadena Middle School. His hobbies include music and sports.

For his mitzvah project, Kyle participated in Mitzvah Day by building fences for trails on Phoenix Mountain for the City of Phoenix Parks department.

Great-grandparents are the late Beryl and Albert Joseph; and the late Yetta and Morris Kogan.

Adam attends Desert Canyon Middle School. His hobbies include piano, reading and sports.

For his mitzvah project, Adam collected and donated large-print books and non-perishable food items to Kivel Campus of Care.



Jonathan Yehuda Roussel, son of Mercedes and Serge Roussel of Phoenix, will become a bar mitzvah Feb. 5, 2005, at Chabad of Phoenix.

Grandparents are Esther Benros of France; the late Yehuda Benros; and the late Solange and Alfred Roussel.

Jonathan attends The King David School. His hobbies include karate, hiking and other outdoor activities.

For his mitzvah project, Jonathan raised money for tsunami survivors, and gave tzedakah to his community.



Lauren Anne Nagy, daughter of Brenlie and Jim Nagy of Scottsdale, will become a bat mitzvah Feb. 5, 2005, at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are Marla and Barry Bernstein of Winnipeg, Manitoba; Ernie Nagy of Sylvan Lake, Alberta; and the late Kay Nagy.

Great-grandparents are Edith Yager of Winnipeg, Manitoba; the late Joseph Yager; and the late Anne and Harry Bernstein.

Lauren attends Cheyenne Traditional School. Her hobbies include cheerleading, dancing and reading.

For her mitzvah project, Lauren fed the homeless at the Watkins Overflow Shelter. She also stocked food boxes at St. Mary's Food Bank, as well as entertained underprivileged children at Mercy House.
