Obituaries

Saul Stravitz

Saul Stravitz died Jan. 17, 2005. He was 85.

Survivors include his wife, Lenore; daughter, Shelley Bolton; sons, Russell and Mark; stepson, Jim Velinsky; and seven grandchildren.

Arrangements were made by Green Acres Mortuary.

Randy Dickinson

Randy Dickinson of Phoenix died Jan. 20, 2005. He was 54. He was born in Burlington, Iowa. He was a member of the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include his wife, Hollis; daughter, Molly; and brother, Doug of Half Moon Bay, Calif.

Services were held at Green Acres Chapel of Light. Arrangements were made by Green Acres Mortuary.

Birdie G. Seligman

Birdie G. Seligman of Phoenix died Jan. 25, 2005. She was 92. She moved to Arizona from Wisconsin in 1976. She was a retired office manager for an automobile parts business. She was a past member of Beth El Congregation.

Survivors include her daughter, Iris S. Wigal of Phoenix; and two grandchildren.

Services were held at Beth El Cemetery, with Rabbi Arthur Lavinsky officiating. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary.

Marguerite Loeb

Marguerite Loeb of Scottsdale died Jan. 23, 2005. She was 93. She was born in France and moved to Arizona from New York in 1976. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughter, Mickey Bailey of Scottsdale; son, Alan Loeb of Boynton Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Green Acres Cemetery, with Rabbi Barton G. Lee officiating. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary.

Morris Ratner

Morris Ratner of Phoenix died Jan. 23, 2005. He was 79. He was born in Chicago and moved to Arizona in 1951. He was a retired television repairman.

Survivors include his daughter, Eleanor Bolen of San Diego, Calif.

Services were held at Beth El Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary.

Lotte Rothenberg

Lotte Rothenberg of Phoenix died Jan. 23, 2005. She was 94. She was born in Germany and moved to Arizona from New York in 1973. She was a retired antique dealer.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Kaplan of Scottsdale; and two grandchildren.

Services were held at Beth Israel Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary.

Ida Keller

Ida Keller of Scottsdale died Jan. 24, 2005. She was 94. She was born in Holyoke, Mass., and moved to Arizona from Florida in 1998. She was a retired bookkeeper.

Survivors include her niece, Karen Levine of Scottsdale. Services were held in West Palm Beach, Fla. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary.



Elayne M. Rubinoff

Elayne M. Rubinoff of Phoenix passed away Jan. 26, 2005, at the age of 82. She was the eldest daughter of the late Meyer and Sophie Schechter. Her loving husband of 33 years, Martin B. Rubinoff and her brother, Neil Schechter, preceded her in death. Her sons Harry J. Rubinoff and Michael W. Rubinoff of Phoenix, daughter-in-law Judith C. Engelman of Phoenix, grandson Marc B. Rubinoff of Anaheim, CA, and sister Sylvia Friedman of Litchfield Park survive her. Elayne was the aunt of many nieces and nephews, including Marsha Hale of Litchfield.

Born in Chicago on April 10, 1922, Elayne was a graduate of Senn High School and attended Northwestern University on a journalism scholarship. She received three scholarships to the Art Institute of Chicago, flew single pilot airmail around the Middle West prior to World War II, and wrote scripts for Dumont Television in the fledgling industry's earliest years.

An enthusiastic Valley resident since 1960, Elayne was a member of Temple Beth Israel, Har Zion Congregation, and Beth El Congregation. She also was active in many organizations including, Hadassah, the Beth El Gift Shop Committee, and Brandeis University Women. Her artwork was a lifelong passion and was exhibited and awarded locally in many venues including the Arizona State Fair.

Memorial services will be held at Greenwood Memory Lawn Serenity Chapel, (602-272-5639) 719 N. 27th Ave., Phoenix on Sunday, Jan. 30 at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in memorial to Elayne M. Rubinoff at the Arthritis Foundation, 1313 E. Osborn Rd., Suite 200 Phoenix 85014 and/or American Diabetes Association, P. O. Box 1132, Fairfax, VA 22308.



Belle F. Guberman

Belle F. Guberman, age 80, passed away January 19, 2005 in Paradise Valley. She was born in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Phoenix 25 years ago from Philadelphia, PA. Belle was a life- member of Hadassah, and a life-member of Brandeis.

Survivors include her daughter Karen (Jay) Bycer, son Neil Guberman and grandchildren Eric and Matthew Bycer. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Dr. Abe Guberman, who passed away in 1983.

Graveside funeral services were held Friday, January 21st in Phoenix. Contributions in her memory are requested to Hadassah Valley of the Sun Chapter, 7000 E.
