Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation's spiritual leader, Rabbi Irwin Wiener, received his Doctor of Divinity degree from Yeshiva Mesifta Adath Wolkowisk in New York City in October.

Jewish National Fund held its annual Tree of Life Award Dinner Dec. 5 at the Hilton Scottsdale Resort. The dinner was attended by 400 people, raising over $110,000 for a special project in the Negev in Israel. Speakers at the event included Sen. Jon Kyl and Hugh Downs. Special guests included Mayor Mary Manross, Bruce Karatz and Harvey Mackay. This year's honorees were Bob and Sue Karatz.

Joanne Gemmill of The Etiquette School of Arizona LLC, recently received the Entrepreneur of the Year award from the Carefree/Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce. She is certified to be a child etiquette consultant after completing extensive training from the American School of Protocol. The Etiquette School of Arizona focuses on today's etiquette needs, training children and young adults in dining skills and social manners. Call 480-488-1498.
