Julie Beth Greenwood, daughter of Judith and Robert Greenwood of Chandler, will become a bat mitzvah Dec. 18, 2004, at Temple Emanuel of Tempe.

Grandparents are Fred Greenwood of Phoenix; Dorothy Chase of Sun Lakes; the late Anita Greenwood; and the late Leonard Chase.

Julie attends East Valley Jewish Community Center Day School. Her hobbies include reading and creative writing.

For her mitzvah project, Julie organized a fund-raiser for the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation.



Annie Katherine Markowitz, daughter of Susan and Michael Markowitz of Scottsdale, will become a bat mitzvah Dec. 18, 2004, at Har Zion Congregation.

Grandparents are Ruth and Douglas Wilansky of Toronto; Frankie Stein of Hollywood, Fla.; Jillian Markowitz; and the late Martin Markowitz.

Annie attends Mountainside Middle School. Her hobbies include cheerleading, tumbling and acting.

For her mitzvah project, Annie donated money to breast and ovarian cancer research.



Lauren Elizabeth Sher, daughter of Lisa and Scott Sher of Scottsdale, will become a bat mitzvah Dec. 18, 2004, at Temple Beth Israel.

Grandparents are Joyce and Lee Schiff of Philadelphia; and Carol and Frederick Sher of Philadelphia.

Lauren attends Rancho Solano Private School. Her hobbies include writing, playing tennis, and performing arts classes.

For her mitzvah project, Lauren organized "Operation Grateful," in which she collected Beanie Babies to send to Iraqi children.



Margot Beth Sands, daughter of Edee and Larry Sands of Phoenix, will become a bat mitzvah Dec. 18, 2004, at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are Elayne and Don Ritten of West Bloomfield, Mich.; and Sylvia and Gene Sands of Scottsdale.

Margot attends Cocopah Middle School. Her hobbies include dancing and art.

For her mitzvah project, Margot raised money for Israel by selling silver memorial bracelets that each have a name of a victim killed in terrorist attacks in Israel.



Michaela Marti Sands, daughter of Edee and Larry Sands of Phoenix, will become a bat mitzvah Dec. 18, 2004, at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are Elayne and Don Ritten of West Bloomfield, Mich.; and Sylvia and Gene Sands of Scottsdale.

Jared Brett Shahon, son of Dara and Robert Shahon of Phoenix, will become a bar mitzvah Dec. 18, 2004, at Temple Solel.

Grandparents are Norma and Elliott Hoffman of Paradise Valley; and Selma and Donald Shahon of Boca Raton, Fla.

Great-grandparents are Stella Shahon of Boston; the late Henry Shahon; and the late Sala and Samuel Goldberg.

Jared attends Pardes Jewish Day School. His hobbies include playing sports, collecting sports cards, computers and music.

For his mitzvah project, Jared completed the 13 mitzvot program at Temple Solel. He also raised money to purchase school supplies and to help fund programming for underprivileged Ethiopian children living in Israel.
