B'nai Mitzvah
Sophie Michelle Bernbaum, daughter of Gina and Paul Bernbaum of Paradise Valley, will become a bat mitzvah Dec. 3, 2004, at a ceremony in her home.
Grandparents are Diane and Harold Bernbaum of Verona, N.J.; and the late Joan and Elliot Horne.
Great-grandparent is Laura Schwartz of Scottsdale.
Sophie attends Cocopah Middle School. Her hobbies include reading, writing, journaling, acting and dance.
For her mitzvah project, Sophie performed volunteer childcare for low income families. She also held a yard sale to benefit the Salvation Army Christmas Angel program, assisted the Life Skills class at her school and tutored a developmentally disabled child.
Amanda Brooke Zucker, daughter of Gail Zucker of Phoenix and the late Cary Zucker, will become a bat mitzvah Dec. 4, 2004, at Temple Solel.
Grandparents are Leah and Marvin Rosenberg of Palm Desert, Calif.; and Helene and Malcolm Zucker of Cleveland.
Amanda attends Pardes Jewish Day School. Her hobbies include sewing, fashion design and books on tape.
For her mitzvah project, Amanda helped at services at Kivel Campus of Care. She also recorded books on tape for third- and fourth-grade books, as well as sewed tallit for Russian synagogues.
Monica Brooke Williams, daughter of Joan Nieman and Scott Williams of Tempe, will become a bat mitzvah Dec. 4, 2004, at Temple Emanuel.
Grandparents are Clare and Stephen Lerman of Phoenix; and James Williams of Phoenix.
Great-grandparents are Jean and Arthur Montgomery of Scottsdale.
Monica attends Kyrene Middle School. Her hobbies include Girl Scouts, cross country and swimming.
For her mitzvah project, Monica volunteered with the elderly at Westchester Care Center.
Samuel Abraham Lawson, son of Ellen and David Lawson of Scottsdale, became a bar mitzvah Nov. 27, 2004, at Har Zion Congregation.
Grandparents are Susan and Robert Levin of St. Louis; and Judy and Noel Lawson of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
Great-grandparents are Belle Levin of St. Louis; and Victor Lawson of West Bloomfield, Mich.
Samuel attends The King David School. His hobbies are football, tennis, baseball and sports cars.
For his mitzvah project, Samuel helped to raise money for Har Zion's new kitchen.
Ian Benjamin Shore, son of Jacqueline and Howard Shore of Scottsdale, will become a bar mitzvah Dec. 4, 2004, at Temple Chai.
Grandparents are Suzanne and Joel Winderman of Staten Island, N.Y.; and Anne and Herbert Shore of Farmingdale, N.Y.
Great-grandparents are Miriam Berman of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; the late Irving Berman; and the late Ruth and Daniel Winderman.
Ian attends Desert Shadows Middle School. His hobbies include baseball, drums, computers and guitar.
For his mitzvah project, Ian called bingo for senior citizens at Freedom Inn in Scottsdale. He also volunteered at Math Night at his school, teaching math to students in kindergarten through third grade.
Rebecca Ann Daley, daughter of Shelly and Pat Daley of Scottsdale, will become a bat mitzvah Dec. 4, 2004, at Temple Chai.
Grandparents are Beverly and Gaylord Rubin of Phoenix; and Dee and George Daley of Sun City West.
Rebecca attends Desert Shadows Middle School. Her hobbies include softball, volleyball and singing.
For her mitzvah project, Rebecca helped collect and deliver 205 pounds of food for Paradise Valley Food Bank.
Michael Ryan Bull, son of Ruth and Larry Bull of Paradise Valley, will become a bar mitzvah Dec. 4, 2004, at Temple Beth Israel.
Grandparents are Julie and Howard Erlick of Phoenix; and Laurie and Scott Bull of Payson.
Michael attends Cocopah Middle School. His hobbies include playing video games, sports, swimming and drawing.
For his mitzvah project, Michael did forest conservation work with the Boy Scouts.
Margo Rose Casselman, daughter of Michelle and Robert Casselman of Phoenix, will become a bat mitzvah Dec. 4, 2004, at Har Zion Congregation.
Grandparents are Lois Ann Weksler of Paradise Valley; Charles Hathcox of Atlanta; and the late Nate Casselman.
Margo attends Phoenix Country Day School. Her hobbies include horseback riding, swimming, rollerblading, arts and crafts and drama.
