ObituariesHenry MaiuriHenry Maiuri of Maricopa died Nov. 4, 2004. He was 68. He was born in Malden, Mass., and moved to Arizona in 1989. He was a retired contractor.Survivors include his daughters, Miri Schneider of Israel, Jennifer Maseloff of Scottsdale and Rebecca of Phoenix; son, Jonathan of Phoenix; sister, Barbara Cottam of Stoughton, Mass.; and two grandchildren. Northern Ave., #E-100, Phoenix 85028. Alice NovakAlice Novak of Scottsdale died Nov. 9, 2004. She was 96. She was born in Rock Island, Ill., and moved to Arizona in 1995. She was a homemaker.Survivors include her daughter, Judith Alpert of Phoenix; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services were held at Hebrew Cemetery in Rock Island, Ill. Plotkin joined her husband, Irving, in death, on November 9, 2004, while at Banner Hospital in Mesa. Eileen was 76 years old. Eileen and Irving are remembered as the owners and operators of "Eileen's", a fashionable women's clothing shop, with outlets formerly located at Chris-Town, Metro Center, and Paradise Valley shopping centers. "Eileen's" was in operation in the Valley from 1962 through 1986. Eileen was raised in Casa Grande where her father, I.R. Fabricant (former Police Commissioner and highly prominent Elks Club member), her mother Kate, and her two brothers Robert and Albert, owned and operated "Fab's" Department Stores, with locations throughout Pinal County. Eileen and Irving married in 1948 and thereafter moved to Buckeye where they owned and operated "Clay's Department Stores" until 1962 when Eileen and her family moved to Phoenix, and the "Eileen's" chain was formed.Eileen and Irving leave three children, Judith Bailey (Bill), Susie Thompson (surviving spouse of William), and Clayton Plotkin; eight grandchildren, Brian Bailey (Califa), Todd Bailey (Jodi), Tasha Thompson, Carrie Plotkin, Stephanie Plotkin, Matthew Plotkin, Drezden Plotkin and Vaughn Plotkin; and three great-grandchildren, Blaine Bailey, Zachary Bailey and Jayden Plotkin. Services were officiated by Rabbi Albert Plotkin on Friday, November 12 in Phoenix. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary. Albert GrossAlbert Gross, age 84, of Phoenix, passed away on November 9, 2004. He was born in Dvinsk, Latvia and came to America in 1921. Albert was a highly decorated retired Air Force Major who served during WWII. He was owner and proprietor of Rishon Distributing in Phoenix since retiring from the Air Force. Albert was a member of the Jewish War Veterans.He is survived by his wife Jeanne; son David; daughter Denise Mahar; brother Bernard; 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Funeral services were held at Beth Israel Cemetery in Phoenix on November 10, 2004. Contributions in his memory are suggested to Chabad of Arizona, 2110 E. Lincoln Drive, Phoenix, AZ 85016. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary of Arizona. Sidney Leonard GordonSidney Leonard Gordon, age 80, passed away November 14, 2004 in Scottsdale. He was born in Chicago and moved to the Valley in 1960. Sid spent most of his working career in consumer electronics and was an Army veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theater of War.Survivors include his children, Phillip (Christa Severns) Gordon, Gail (Ron Ober) Gordon and Wayne Gordon; his grandchildren, Jeffrey, Rachel, David and Jake Gordon, and Jacqueline and Mikaela Ober; and his sisters Sue (Milt) Gerson and Edith Sherman. He was loved by his family and will be deeply missed by all. Sid was a man of extraordinary optimism who never stopped dreaming. Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday, November 16 in Phoenix. Channie Milowsky LevinChannie Milowsky Levin, age 93, died on November 8, 2004. Formerly of Detroit, she resided in Phoenix since 1962. Channie was active in the Jewish community and a lifetime member of Hadassah.She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. David M. Levin and daughter Freyda Labbe. Survivors include her daughters Eve Tutnick and Miriam Sokolow, 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed.
