Sophie Rose Loeb, daughter of Renée Weiss and Malcolm Loeb of Scottsdale, will become a bat mitzvah Nov. 20, 2004, at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are the late Bertha and Sidney Weiss; and the late Chaska and Sylvester Loeb.

Sophie attends Desert Shadows Middle School. Her hobbies include singing in the school chorus, piano and basketball.

For her mitzvah project, Sophie volunteered at "Family Fun Day" for the Council For Jews With Special Needs. She also collected towels and supplies for the Arizona Animal Welfare League and assisted with two after-school programs at Desert Springs Elementary School.



Aaron Franklin Blitz, son of Robin Blitz of Scottsdale and the late Jonathan Blitz, will become a bar mitzvah Nov. 20, 2004, at Temple Beth Israel.

Grandparents are Lynn and Jack Krause of Cleveland; and Margie and Sheldon Blitz of San Diego, Calif.

Aaron attends Pardes Jewish Day School. His hobbies include soccer, karate, coin collecting, cello and reading.

For his mitzvah project, Aaron is collecting household and children's items for Haven House.



Jaclyn Shayna Roberts, daughter of Beverly and Michael Roberts of Paradise Valley, will become a bat mitzvah Nov. 20, 2004, at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are Estelle Goldberg of Scottsdale; the late Benjamin Goldberg; and the late Thelma and Kurt Roberts.

Jaclyn attends Phoenix Country Day School. Her hobbies include ice skating, yoga, singing, ballet and tennis.

For her mitzvah project, Jaclyn put together cancer awareness packets for newly diagnosed cancer patients at Arizona Oncology Associates. She also helped chemotherapy patients when they received their treatments.



Brian Matthew Colan, son of Harriet Colan of Cave Creek and the late Michael Colan, will become a bar mitzvah Nov. 20, 2004, at Har Zion Congregation.

Grandparents are Stella Deitsch of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Alex Colan of Brooklyn; the late Leiv Deitsch; and the late Rose Tucker.

Brian attends Cactus Shadows High School. His hobbies include football, basketball and track.



Jonathon Shane Spitz, son of Esther Battock and Walter Spitz of Phoenix, will become a bar mitzvah Nov. 20, 2004, at a private service at The Camelback Golf Club.

Grandparents are Anna and Harry Spitz of Phoenix; and Rochelle and Irwin Battock of Phoenix.

Jonathon attends The King David School. His hobbies include baseball, boating and waterskiing.



Edan Maoz, son of Ivette and Netzer Maoz of Chandler, will become a bar mitzvah Nov. 20, 2004, at Temple Emanuel of Tempe.

Grandparents are Annelie and Martin Nossbaum of Jenkintown, Pa.; and Batya and Eli Maoz of Motza Ilit, Israel.

Edan attends Aprende Middle School. His hobbies include playing chess, hockey, trombone and computer games.

For his mitzvah project, Edan collected donations for the Thomas J. Pappas School in Tempe.



Gabrielle Beth Ryan, daughter of Lori and James Ryan of Scottsdale, will become a bat mitzvah Nov. 20, 2004, at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are Marilyn Fine of Clawson, Mich.; Iris Czajkowski and David Fine of West Bloomfield, Mich.; JoAnn Ryan of Farmington Hills, Mich.; Len Baranski of Galveston, Texas; and Sheila and Lawrence Ryan of Las Vegas.

Great-grandparents are Ellen Moss of West Bloomfield, Mich.; the late Milton Moss; the late Margaret Crippen; and the late Marian Ryan.

Gabrielle attends Mountainside Middle School. Her hobbies are music and sports.

For her mitzvah project, Gabrielle volunteered at Scottsdale Arts Festival, supporting volunteer check-in, hospitality, orientation and troubleshooting.
