Alec Jonas, son of Terri and Richard Jonas of Mesa, will become a bar mitzvah Oct. 23, 2004, at Temple Emanuel of Tempe.

Grandparent is Bea Altman of Sun City West.

Alec attends Stapley Junior High. His hobbies include guitar, saxophone, video and computer games, soccer and snowboarding.

For his mitzvah project, Alec collected items to donate to the East Valley Child Crisis Center.



Zachary Adam Snader, son of Lynne Ostreicher and Rick Turkian of Scottsdale and Howard Snader of Phoenix, will become a bar mitzvah Oct. 23, 2004, at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are Ruth Ostreicher of Sun Lakes; Auren Snader of Phoenix; the late Robert Ostreicher; and the late Ray Snader.

Great-grandparents are Rose Goldbaum of San Diego; and the late Emma and Charles Ostreicher.

Zachary attends Cocopah Middle School. His hobbies include football, skateboarding and reading.

For his mitzvah project, Zachary helped handicapped students at his school with art work and other subjects. He also worked as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.



Amara Michelle Babani, daughter of Stacy and David Babani of Phoenix, will become a bat mitzvah Oct. 23, 2004 at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are Ramona Luckman of Las Vegas; Burt Geneles of Phoenix; and Fortuna and Isaac Babani of Van Nuys, Calif.

Great-grandparent is Adeline Luckman of Sun City.

Amara attends Explorer Middle School. Her hobbies are cooking, swimming and board games.

For her mitzvah project, Amara joined the Maricopa County Volunteer Youth Corps. She helped to set up the luminaria display for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. She also volunteered at Kivel.



Joshua Travis Simon, son of Linda and Ira Simon of Scottsdale, will become a bar mitzvah Oct. 23, 2004, at Temple Kol Ami.

Grandparents are Marion Simon of Hallandale, Fla.; Irene and Arthur Bloomberg of Tamarac, Fla.; and the late Ralph Simon.

Joshua attends Cheyenne Traditional School. His hobbies include karate, violin, Odyssey of the Mind and playing with his dog.

For his mitzvah project, Joshua tutored a child with learning disabilities. He has also participated in fund- raising for various charities.



Sydney Erin Pauker, daughter of Wendy Pauker of Phoenix and the late Stuart Pauker, will become a bat mitzvah Oct. 23, 2004, at Beth El Congregation.

Grandparents are Pauline and Stewart Hurvitz of Phoenix.

Great-grandparents are Sadye Hurvitz of Phoenix; the late Bill Hurvitz; and the late Esther and Edward Brady.

Sydney attends Madison Junior High. Her hobbies include hip-hop dance and computers.

For her mitzvah project, Sydney helped raise money for Heartworks Photography, a children's charity.



Jedd Blinder, son of Janet and Martin Blinder of Paradise Valley, will become a bar mitzvah Oct. 23, 2004, at Temple Beth Israel.

Grandparents are the late Lillian and Meyer Blinder.

Jedd attends Cocopah Middle School. His hobbies include baseball and hockey.



Cassidy Alexis Milder, daughter of Jennifer La-Moureaux of Phoenix and Ken Milder of Scottsdale, will become a bat mitzvah Oct. 23, 2004, at Temple Solel.

Grandparents are Adrienne Milder of Santa Monica, Calif.; Marcia Hartley of Yosemite, Calif.; Ron La-Moureaux of Phoenix; and the late Orvel A. Milder.

Great-grandparents are the late Ruth and Joseph Rice; and the late Ella and Hymie Milder. Cassidy attends Ingleside Middle school. Her hobby is softball.



Suzy Dimand, daughter of Gigi and Myles Dimand of Scottsdale, will become a bat mitzvah Oct. 23, 2004, at a Havdalah ceremony at the Doubletree Paradise Valley Resort.

Grandparents are Janie and Jerry Wein of Northbrook, Ill.; the late Cecile Citrano; and the late Mitchell Dimand.

Suzy attends The King David School. Her hobbies include swimming, dancing, music and reading.

For her mitzvah project, Suzy gave to the homeless.



Jennifer Louise Loev, daughter of Linda Wimp-fheimer and Bruce Kevin Loev of Scottsdale, will become a bat mitzvah Oct. 23, 2004, at Har Zion Congregation.

Grandparents are Pearl Winter and Bernard Loev of Medford, N.J.; Rose and David Klotzko of Surprise; and the late Roger Wimp-fheimer.

Great-grandparents are the late Eva and Louis Winter; the late Anna and Abe Loev; the late Julia and Josef Bauer; and the late Elisa and Isidor Wimpfheimer.

Jennifer attends Mountainside Middle School. Her hobbies include soccer, skiing, body surfing and travelling.

For her mitzvah project, Jennifer collected new and used sports equipment to donate to underprivileged children.
