B'nai Mitzvah

Scott Lee Markowitz, son of Ellyn and Michael Markowitz of Cave Creek, will become a bar mitzvah on Sept. 11, 2004, at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are Dorothy and Hal Lindel of Surprise; and Eleanor and David Markowitz of Boca Raton, Fla.

Great-grandparents are the late Sarah Margolis, the late Ralph Portov, and the late Sophie and Sam Lifshitz.

Scott attends Foothills Academy. His hobbies are computers and video games.

For his mitzvah project, Scott collected various items to donate to deployed troops from Arizona.



Samuel Lloyd Cohen, son of Deirdre Cohen of Scottsdale and Don Cohen of Peoria, will become a bar mitzvah Sept. 11, 2004, at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are Marigold Cohen of New York; Joan and Herbert Thau of Tampa, Fla.; and the late Lawerence Cohen.

Samuel attends Sunrise Middle School. His hobbies are basketball, baseball and collecting baseball cards.

For his mitzvah project, Samuel volunteered at the Veterans' Administration.



Jacob Daniel Turrentine, son of Jody Meyers of Scottsdale and Dan Turrentine of Scottsdale, will become a bar mitzvah Sept. 11, 2004, at Temple Solel.

Grandparents are Estelle Shwiff of Dallas; and Bernie Meyers of Scottsdale.

Jacob attends Ingleside Middle School. His hobbies are playing basketball, movies and playing guitar.

For his mitzvah project, Jacob collected school clothes and backpacks for young children.
