Brown & Bain merges with Seattle law firmBrown & Bain, a leading Valley law firm, will merge July 1 with Perkins Coie, a Seattle law firm.Perkins Coie, an approximately 550-lawyer firm with headquarters in Seattle, specializes in full-service, technology-oriented legal services. It has offices in 12 U.S. cities and two cities in Asia. Phoenix-based Brown & Bain, with about 70 lawyers, is nationally known for its strength in intellectual property litigation and complex commercial litigation. The Phoenix office will be the second largest office in the combined firm. "We are all quite excited to be joining the Perkins Coie group," said Paul Eckstein, chairman of Brown & Bain and co-owner of Jewish News of Greater Phoenix. "The size and scope of the combined firm means that we will at long last be able to provide legal services in virtually every field imaginable." Bob Giles, Perkins Coie managing partner, said the merger "will give us a substantial presence in Phoenix, which is one of the nation's fastest-growing economies." Among Perkins Coie clients are The Boeing Company, Microsoft, Costco Wholesales, Albertsons, Dell Computer, United Parcel Service, Amazon.com, Expedia and Getty Images. Brown & Bain represents technology and business clients including Intel, Cypress Semiconductor, Honeywell International, Phelps Dodge Corporation, Best Western International and America West Airlines. In Arizona, the combined firm will be known as Perkins Coie Brown & Bain. Joe Mais, Brown & Bain managing director, will remain as managing partner of the Phoenix office. |
