For the record

Editor:
Although your article ("Community celebrates marriage," June 18) states correctly that the occasion is a landmark because it is the first Hasidic wedding with an Arizona-born bride, for the record, this is not the first Hasidic wedding that has been performed in Arizona.

On Feb. 12, 2002, Mordechai Wollenberg and Blima Wolfe were married with all the same Hasidic rituals at the Chabad-Lubavitch Center.

Blima moved to Arizona when she was 5 years old. She and her husband, a rabbi, now live in Cardiff, U.K., where they serve as Chabad emissaries.

Daniel Pipes: cogent or rigid analyst?

Editor:
Some of us see two Daniel Pipeses, one thoughtful and cogent, and one ideological and rigid. Unfortunately, the latter wrote for you recently ("Europe's threat to the West," Jewish News, June 11).

If we were to take Pipes' article literally, then it would seem, erroneously, that the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, the Columbine School shootings, the Unabomber and the shooting invasion of the U.S. Capitol six years ago were, combined, a single major terrorist attack perpetrated by Muslim men between the ages of 18 and 40.

Then again, it depends on what the definition of "major terrorist attack." It's kind of like the definition of "minor surgery." Minor surgery is an operation on somebody else. If it's on me, it's major.
